Rajhasthani Polychrome wooden Makara
This delightful Makara covered in silver scales and jolly polychrome decoration, looking half dog and half fish. A Makara is the Vahana of Ganga the river Goddess and Varuna God of the sea. Mid 19th century. and in the style of Rajhasthan similar to the decrorations to the mouths of cannons
It measures 11inches (28cm) long and 9 inches (23cm) high and weighs 900g
